LaVina Hanquist

Funeral Services were held 1:30 P.M., Monday, September 21, 1992 at the Aurora Pleasant View Bible Church. Interment was held in the Lindale Cemetery in Hordville, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: LaVina Hanquist

LaVina Mae Hanquist, the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Johnson) Rodine, was born on a farm near Polk, Nebraska, on May 20, 1902, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 18, 1992, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

She grew up near Polk, and attended country school. She began working in a grocery store and later worked in a dry goods store in Polk, until her marriage.

On September 16, 1924, she was united in marriage to Reuben Hanquist at Polk. Reuben and LaVina had observed their 68th anniversary two days before her death. They lived southwest of Polk, where they farmed for 18 years, and then moved northwest of Polk for 6 years, and then moved north of Polk where they farmed until they moved into Polk in 1963. While living in Polk, she sold Avon products. In 1988 they moved into Aurora, where they have since resided.

LaVina was a member of the Aurora Pleasant View Bible Church, and was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. While living at Polk she was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was president of the W.M.S. in Polk and belonged to the W.M.F. at the Pleasant View Church. She was also a member of the committee of the Polk County Republicans, belonged to the Hamilton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, visited shut-ins, and visited at the county jail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Reuben of Aurora; 4 sons, Miland and his wife Marlene of Lincoln, Arlyn and his wife Donna of Hugoton, Kansas, Roger and his wife Marlene of Clarks, and Stanley and his wife Judith of Springfield, one daughter Dorothy Claussen and her husband Lester of Cairo; one sister Ruth Curry of California; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
