Reuben Hanquist

Reuben Hanquist, age 99, of Aurora died Sunday night, July 18, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Barry McCormick will officiate. Interment will be at Lindell Cemetery near Hordville. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at Higby Mortuary.

OBITUARY: REUBEN HANQUIST

Reuben Ellsworth Hanquist, the son of Pher and Matilda (Johnson) Hanquist, was born on a farm near Central City, Nebraska on September 25, 1899 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 18, 1999, at the age of 99 years, 9 months and 23 days.

He grew up on a farm near Polk, where he went to grade school.

He was united in marriage to LaVina Mae Rodine on September 16, 1924 in Polk, Nebraska. They lived on a farm near Polk and then retired from farming in 1962. He became custodian at Polk Grade School in 1963 and became grandpa to all the kindergartners. In 1988, they moved to Aurora. LaVina passed away September 18, 1992.

He was a member of the Aurora Pleasant View Bible Church. He was a Sunday School teacher and deacon for many years. He was a Gideon.

His parents, wife, and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sons, Miland and his wife Marlene of Lincoln, Nebraska, Arlyn and his wife Donna of Hugoton, Kansas, Roger and his wife Marlene of Clarks, Nebraska,Stanley and his wife Judith of Springfield, Nebraska: daughter, Dorothy Claussen and her husband Lester of Cairo, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
