August Hansen

August B. “Gus” Hansen, age 91, of Marquette died Wednesday morning, December 1, 1999, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Kronborg. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Friday at Higby Mortuary. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

OBITUARY: AUGUST HANSEN

August B. “Gus” Hansen, the son of Thorvald and Olga (Jensen) Hansen, was born on a farm near Marquette, Nebraska on August 21, 1908 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 1, 1999, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 10 days.

He grew up on a farm near Marquette and attended country school.

“Gus” was united in marriage to Edna Rasmussen on June 4, 1932 in Brush, Colorado. He farmed and lived in the Marquette area all his life. “Gus” sold seed corn. He was active in the community, he served as county assessor. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Edna passed away in July 1995.

He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Agnes Nielsen and Esther Bradley and two brothers, Elmer and Arnold.

Survivors include his son, Gerald Hansen and his wife Sharon of Aurora; daughter, Marilyn Kramme and her husband Dick of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Edna Christensen of Aurora; 8 grandchildren, Dana Hansen and his wife Marsha, Gene Hansen and his wife Barb, Steve Hansen and his wife Robin, Jon Hansen, Kathy Blackford and her husband Gary, Kim Van Gundy and her husband Mark, Kari Wragge and her husband Brad, Kraig Kramme and his wife Kathy; 17 great-grandchildren.
