Edith HansenFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 16, 1991 at the Aurora Pleasant View Bible Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Edith Hansen Edith Viola Hansen, the daughter of Erick and Hulda (Erickson) Nilson, was born southwest of Marquette, Nebraska, on February 27, 1900, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 13, 1991, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 16 days. Her entire lifetime was spent in Hamilton County, and she received her education in country schools, and graduated from Aurora High School. She also attended Kearney State College. She taught school for 3 years in the Hamilton County Schools, from the 1st grade through the 10th. On August 31, 1921, she was united in marriage to Christian C. Hansen. They lived on a farm north of Hampton, until 1927, when they moved to a farm north of Aurora, where her husband was a farmer and stockman. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1971. She and 3 of her sisters were baptized at the Platte River, and joined the United Bretheran Church in Aurora, on August 14, 1920. In 1922, she became a member of the Lutheran Church north of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant son; 4 brothers, Charles, Victor, Oscar, and Arthur Edward; and 2 sisters, Esther McMahon and Hulda Nolan, and 2 infant granddaughters. Those who remain to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Calvin and his wife Rose Mary of Hampton and Gene and his wife Arlene of Aurora; 3 daughters, Marjorie Doede and her husband Walter and Elizabeth Hungerford and her husband Robert, both of Portland, Oregon, and Shirley Sorensen and her husband Chaplain Harry, of Altoona, Iowa; one brother, Arthur Nilson of Marquette; 3 sisters, Lydia Magnuson of Aurora, Hannah Hansen of Hampton, and Artha Nilson of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren |
