Gerald Hansen
Gerald Hansen, age 66, of Aurora died Thursday morning, January 9, 2003, at Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 13th at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Pastor Pam Ciulla will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Kronborg. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: GERALD 'JERRY' HANSEN Gerald Willard Hansen, the son of August B. and Edna A. (Rasmussen) Hansen, was born at rural Marquette, Nebraska on October 8, 1936 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 9, 2003, at the age of 66. Gerald grew up in the Marquette rural community and attended country school. He graduated from Marquette High School and attended the University of Nebraska. Gerald served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 and was stationed overseas in Germany for several years. Gerald was united in marriage to Sharon Jean Danhauer on January 31, 1960 at the United Brethren Church at Marquette. Gerald started farming when he returned from the service. For several years early in their married life, he worked at New Holland in Grand Island. He also worked part-time for FSA for nearly 50 years. Gerald continued farming until his retirement in 2000, when they moved to Aurora. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Gerald served as a council member, served on the cemetery board and was very active in the church activities. Gerald enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling. He liked spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially being able to attend their activities. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sharon of Aurora; 4 sons, Dana Hansen and his wife Marsha of Grand Island, Gene Hansen and his wife Barb, Steve Hansen and his wife Robin all of Aurora, and Jon Hansen and his wife Joyce of Marquette; 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Katie and Taylor Hansen and Mitch and Tara Hansen all of Aurora. He is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Kramme and her husband Dick of Des Moines, Iowa and several nieces and nephews and friends. |
