Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 3, 1988 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Herluf Hansen

Herluf Fred Hansen, the son of Lewis and Inger (Frank) Hansen, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 27, 1900, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on February 29, 1988, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 2 days.

He attended Aurora High School, and served his country during World War I from 1918 to 1919. In 1924 he graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture.

On November 28, 1928, he was united in marriage to Dorothy McConaughey at Kearney. They farmed near Aurora until 1970, when he retired and moved into Aurora in 1983. Since December of 1986 he has resided at the Hamilton Manor.

Herluf was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. He was a member of the Hampton Legion Post #141, and had received his 50 year Certificate from the Hampton Masonic Lodge #245, on September 7, 1976.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Jacqueline Ediger; 5 brothers, Bernhardt, Walter, Vernor, Harold and George; 3 sisters, Thyra Fedeerson, Rigmore Nielsen, and Agnes Dyer, and one infant sister.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy; one son Robert of Marquette; one daughter Arlene Bayne of Aurora; one sister Yrsa Hansen of Aurora; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
