OBITUARY: Katherine Hansen

Mary Katherine Hansen, the daughter of Harve and Lyda (Barbee) Grosvenor, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 8, 1912, and died at Central City, Nebraska, on October 6, 1998, at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 28 days.

She grew up at Aurora, where she received her education, graduating from Aurora High School in 1930. Following graduation, she worked for Iowa-Nebraska Gas Company, in Aurora.

On August 31, 1947, she was united in marriage to Cecil Hansen at North Platte, Nebraska. They lived in Aurora, where she was employed as a bookkeeper for Grosshans International, and later as a billing clerk for the Aurora Water Department. Cecil preceded her in death on July 8, 1960.

She helped operate the Aurora Senior Citizen Center, and in 1972, she moved to Central City, where she held the position of Senior Citizen Director, until she retired in 1978.

She was a member of the Central City Presbyterian Church, belonged to the Aurora American Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed working with ceramics.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son David, a sister Margaret and an infant brother Donald.

She is survived by one son Jim of Central City.
