Hazel Hanson

Hazel Hanson, age 87, of Giltner died Wednesday morning, April 5, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. Rev. Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Friday at Higby Mortuary.

OBITUARY: HAZEL HANSON

Hazel Irene Hanson, the daughter of Delano and Beatrice (Rawlins) McDuffee, was born in Charleston, Nebraska on September 8, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 5, 2000, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Hazel and her family moved to Spencer in 1919. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1930 and then attended Wayne Teachers College for two years. She taught in rural and town schools for twelve years.

She was united in marriage to Carold Hanson on June 2, 1940 in Spencer, Nebraska. In 1949, they moved to Giltner. Carold passed away on March 13, 1995.

Hazel was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Group and the Giltner Women’s Club.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jeanine Fink and her husband Mike of Battle Creek, Jane Smith and her husband Dave of Giltner and Cheryl Collinson and her husband Mike of Doniphan; 4 grandchildren, Lynn Klug and her husband Jon of Battle Creek, Dawn Pochop and her husband Jeremy of Battle Creek, Jason Smith of Giltner, and Jeremy Collinson and Andrea Collison both of Doniphan; 5 great-grandchildren, Amber Fink, Christopher Klug, Zachary Pochop, Jerod Pochop and Tyrell Klug all of Battle Creek; one brother, Bruce McDuffee and his wife Maxine of Primrose; nephews, Dallas McDuffee and Robert McDuffee.
