Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 27, 1997 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Julia Hanson

Julia Alice Hanson, the daughter of James and Julia Peterson, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on August 8, 1899, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on February 24, 1997, at the age of 97 years, 6 months, and 17 days.

Her mother died at childbirth and she was raised from infancy by Joseph and Frances Shaneyfelt. She attended country school near Kronborg, and graduated valedictorian of her class from Marquette High School in 1919. She then graduated from Kearney State Teacher’s College in 1921, and taught school in Marquette and Aurora.

On August 12, 1925, she was united in marriage to Paul Hanson at Aurora. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1985. They farmed northwest of Aurora all their married life, and in later years enjoyed traveling. She entered Memorial Community Care on August 10, 1993.

Julia was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and had served as pianist at the Aurora E.U.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Don and his wife Pat of Aurora, and Maylon and his wife Karen of Grand Island; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, and a special friend April Campbell.
