Dorothy Happold

Dorothy Happold, age 91, of Aurora, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 19th at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Rev. Sheryl Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 415 South 19th Street, Aurora. OBITUARY: DOROTHY HAPPOLD

Dorothy Opal Happold, the daughter of Ward and Etta (Bartlett) Hartzell, was born at Inland, Nebraska on December 12, 1917, and died at Aurora, Nebraska on August 16, 2009 at the age of 91.

She grew up in Hamilton and Clay Counties. Dorothy attended school through the 10th grade.

On June 9, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edgar H. Happold at Columbus. They farmed all their wedded lives. Edgar passed away on June 24, 1977. Dorothy lived on the family farm northwest of Giltner until 1995, when she moved into Aurora.

Dorothy was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening and cooking for family dinners.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Michael Happold; four sisters, Ruth Hultine, Arlene Talich, Letha Warrick and Edna Bevilhimer and two brothers, Gail and Wayne Hartzell and two infant siblings.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her three children, Karen (Sid) Mitchell of Lincoln, Jim (Marilynn) Happold of Giltner and Deb (Lynn) Miller of Aurora; 9 grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Jeff, Marla, Joe, Jessica, Stacey, Sarah and Chelsea and 12 great-grandchildren, Justin, Julie, Jaclyn, Courtney, Tanner, Taylor, Sydney, Ashlee, Logan, Kirsten, Ian and Ryler.
