Dolores Harley

Dolores Harley, age 85, of Norfolk, formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Golden Living Healthcare in Norfolk.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 9th at Higby-McQuiston Chapel, 1404 L Street, Aurora, Nebraska. Pastor Tim Harley will officiate. Interment will be at Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: DOLORES HARLEY

Dolores Janet Harley, the daughter of Ernest and Sylvia (Sulc) Mohnsen, was born on the family farm in Colfax County, Nebraska on August 12, 1926 and passed away in Norfolk, Nebraska on April 4, 2012, at the age of 85.

Dolores attended school in Howells through the 8th grade and then worked on the family farm.

In 1949, Dolores married Cortland Bersee. They lived in Columbus and had two sons, Charles and Cortland. Cortland, her husband, passed away in 1952.

On August 9, 1953, she was united in marriage to Elvin E. Harley. They resided mostly in the Norfolk area and then moved to Aurora in 1987. Dolores continued to live in Aurora until October of 2011, when she moved to Norfolk for health reasons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Ernie, who died in infancy, Jason and Tom Harley; her brother, Ernest Mohnsen and sister, Betty Bendig.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Verna (Ed) Ferris of Norfolk and Carolyn (Charles) Clark of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora; sons, Cortland (Susan) Bersee of Warrenton, Virginia, Charles Bersee of Lincoln, Tim (Donna) Harley of Timberville, Virginia, Carl Harley of Aurora and Paul Harley of Grand Island; sister, Shirley Kluthe of Howells; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
