Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 1986 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Lewis Harling

Lewis C. Harling, the son of James and Estella (Gibson) Harling, was born at Friend, Nebraska, on March 1, 1915, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on March 23, 1986, at the age of 71 years and 22 days.

He was raised in Nuckolls and Saline Counties.

On September 4, 1937, he was united in marriage to Irene Nielsen at Lincoln, Nebraska.

Louie was employed for 32 years with The Gas Company, serving as manager of natural gas operations in the communities of Fairmont, Exeter, Geneva, Grafton, Friend and Aurora. He began work with the gas company in 1942 at Exeter and later worked with the company in York.

For 6 years he was employed with the Century Manufacturing Company in Aurora.

He was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ, and was past president of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He was also a retired member of the Fairmont Volunteer Fire Department, and had been a member of the Aurora Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, James, Glen and Leslie and 2 sisters, Faye Schilling and Lila Bailey.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Irene; one son Tom of Fairbury; 2 daughters, Bette McConaughey of Lincoln and Kathy Jones of Aurora; one brother, Don Harling of St. Paul, Minnesota; 3 sisters, Edna Berst of Friend, Leona Jensby of Superior and Lottie Bricker of Lincoln; 4 grandchildren, Troy and Staci McConaughey of Lincoln, and Nick and Mike Harling of Fairbury, and many other relatives, friends, and business associates.
