Arlo Hayes
Arlo Hayes, age 89, formerly of Marquette, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at Richland Cemetery near Marquette. Rev. Rich Savage will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M., Monday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: ARLO HAYES Arlo Erdmann Hayes, the son of John Irvin and Clara Emma (Mideke) Hayes, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on July 26, 1911 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 23, 2001, at the age of 89 years. Arlo grew up in Marquette, where he attended school through the 8th grade. He served in the Army during WWII. Arlo was united in marriage to Agnes L. Barger on January 21, 1947 at Bellville, Kansas. They farmed in the Marquette area. In 1966, he went to work for National by Products in Grand Island, then in 1977, Arlo went to work for the Marquette Co-op until 1993. They lived in Marquette until January 1999, when they moved to Grand Island. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Lion's Club and the Richland Cemetery Board. Arlo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Duane and Lyle, and a sister, Enid Krause. Arlo is survived by his wife, Agnes of Grand Island; four children, Helen Foulk and her husband Ron of Central City, Ronald Hayes and his wife Diane of Hastings, Clara Hardy of Aurora and Shirley Stevenson and her husband Greg of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two brothers, R. Kent Hayes of California and Arthur E. Hayes of Greensboro, North Carolina. |
