Agnes Hayes

Agnes Hayes, age 82, formerly of Marquette, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Grand Island.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 4th at the Richland Cemetery near Marquette. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: AGNES HAYES

Agnes LaVaughn Hayes, the daughter of James Albert and Eliza Ann (Salisbury) Barger, was born in Tekamah, Nebraska on April 5, 1927 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on September 1, 2009, at the age of 82.

Agnes grew up in Tekamah and attended school through the 10th grade.

Agnes was united in marriage to Arlo E. Hayes on January 21, 1947 at Belleville, Kansas. They farmed in the Marquette area. They lived in the Marquette area until they moved to Grand Island in January 1999. Arlo passed away on June 23, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, Jim and Harvey Barger and four sisters, Mabel Quick, Louise Hayes, Odile Smith and Florence Ball.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Helen (Ron) Foulk of Central City, Ronald (Diana) Hayes of Hastings, Clara Hardy of Aurora and Shirley (Greg) Stevenson of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren.
