Dorothy Headlee

Dorothy Headlee, age 87, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora and Osceola, died Tuesday evening, October 23, 2001, following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be at the Stromsburg Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. Friday. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DOROTHY HEADLEE

Dorothy Marie Headlee, the daughter of Joseph and Erika (Altberg) Headman, was born at Stromsburg, Nebraska on January 16, 1914 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 23, 2001, at the age of 87 years.

She grew up in Stromsburg and graduated from Stromsburg High School. She went to Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Floyd Headlee on October 30, 1937 at Papillion, Nebraska. They moved to Osceola, where they raised their family. Dorothy initially worked for the Draft Board registering men during WW II. Later she went on to work for the ASCS Office in Osceola until she retired. After the family was raised they moved to Aurora, where Dorothy went to work for NPPD for many years. Floyd passed away on January 27, 1987.

Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church in Osceola for many years. Dorothy had a tremendous circle of friends that she enjoyed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Gerald Wayne Headlee.

Dorothy is survived by her four children, Gordon of York, Steve and his wife Shirley of Lincoln, Jim and his wife of Marilyn of Norfolk, Janelle Lindburg of Omaha and Charles Pinkham; 9 grandchildren: 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Headman of Cypress, California and nephews.
