Jane Hedlund, age 85, of Aurora, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Harvard Rest Haven.

OBITUARY: JANE HEDLUND

Jane Harriet Hedlund, the daughter of Elmer L. and Ella (Ellsworth) Steinmetz, was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 25, 1923 and died in Harvard, Nebraska on March 24, 2009, at the age of 85.

She grew up in Chicago, where she graduated from high school. Jane served in the United States Marine Corps during WW II. She was honorable discharged in 1945.

Jane was united in marriage to Verlin “Pete” Hedlund on January 3, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois. Jane worked in the banking industry. They moved to Aurora in 1975, where they enjoyed retirement. Pete passed away on December 14, 1983.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Dorothy Brotherton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles (Gayle) Ford of Surprise, Arizona; 3 grandchildren, Charles (Maria), Sandra (Everett) and John and great-granddaughter, Josephine.
