OBITUARY: Verlin “Pete” Hedlund

Verlin “Pete” Hedlund, the son of Peter and Lettie (Lindstrom) Hedlund, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 2, 1911, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, on December 14, 1983, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 12 days.

At an early age he was confirmed in the Evangelical Covenant Church. He attended Aurora Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1930. In his school years, he was very good in athletics.

He married Marge Sinner of Sutton in 1934, and lived in Omaha and Portland, Oregon. They had one son Gerald who passed away in August of 1974. In 1949, he married Rose Grover of Chicago. She passed away in 1964. In 1970, he married Jane Ford. They lived in Chicago until his retirement from Madison Bank & Trust Co. in 1976. They then moved to Aurora, where he has since resided.

He belonged to United Masonic Lodge #211 of Parkridge, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Jane; one sister Mrs. Mildred McCollum Russell of Aurora; sister-in-law Cometa Hedlund of Chicago; brother-in-law Al Burdock of Aurora; step-son Chuck Ford of Chicago; 2 granddaughters, 3 step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
