Sandra Heffelfinger

Sandy Heffelfinger, age 69, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at her home in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 29th at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in the Beaver Crossing Cemetery in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: SANDRA HEFFELFINGER

Sandra Sue Heffelfinger, the daughter of John and Jane (Colvert) Fox, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 3, 1941 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 25, 2011, at the age of 69.

Sandy grew up in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and graduated from Beaver Crossing High School in 1958.

Sandy was united in marriage to James Heffelfinger in 1961 and to this union were born three children, Douglas David, Deneen Jane and Dawn Ruth.

Following their marriage they resided in Lincoln, Nebraska until 1972 when they moved to Tempe, Arizona until 1982. In 1982 they moved to Aurora, Colorado where they made their home until 1989 and then they moved to Aurora, Nebraska where they have made their home since. Sandy worked in the accounting field for 25 years, which she really enjoyed. She worked for three years at Super Foods in Aurora and then she worked for her son and daughter-in-laws store in York, Nebraska. Sandy then went to work for the state of Nebraska as a care-giver for the state and private homes. This was the most fulfilling job to her and she made an awful lot of special friends.

Sandy’s greatest joy was her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Each one had a special place in her heart. She enjoyed camping, playing the piano and crocheting.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she served as Secretary/Treasurer. Sandy was also a member of the Eastern Star throughout her life. She was a 50 year member.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim; son, Douglas (Terri) Heffelfinger; daughters, Deneen (Rich) Denny and Dawn Flores; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Corey, Ashley, Dillion and Olivia and 1 great-granddaughter, Akyra; brothers, Larry (Jolene) Fox and David (Pam) Fox; sister, Ginny (Chris) Childers; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
