Arthur HeftieFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 18, 1990 at the Stockham Community Church. Interment was held in the Stockham Cemetery. OBITUARY: Arthur Heftie Arthur Peter Heftie, the son of Martin and Katharine (Ellwanger) Heftie, was born on a farm near Stockham, Nebraska, on May 9, 1901, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 14, 1990, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He grew up near Stockham and attended the Stockham School. On January 21, 1937, he was united in marriage to Lucile Lyon, at Seward. They spent their active years farming in the Stockham area, on the original “Stockham Farm”, where their children were raised. Art was involved with the purebred livestock industry, and he enjoyed showing at the local and state fairs. He enjoyed his hobby of raising various breeds of poultry and was a lifetime member of the American Poultry Association and the Nebraska Poultry Association. He was honored in 1977 by the Hamilton County feeders Association, for many years of dedicated service to the Livestock Industry. He also exhibited chester White hogs. In 1965 he retired from farming and moved to Aurora, where he worked for the city parks department until 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Herbert, Leon and Edwin; a daughter-in-law Arlyce Heftie and one grandchild. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Lucile, of Aurora; 5 sons, Dr. Delbert of Wisner, Clifford of Clay Center, Ronald of Plattsburg, New York, Richard of Stockham and Dennis of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Maxine Shunkwiler of Fairfield; 2 sisters, Mildred Ralls and Eleanor Wilson, both of Brawley, California; and 17 grandchildren. |
