Arnold Heiden

Arnold Heiden, age 87, of York, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Hearthstone in York.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 15th at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Pastor Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation or the Nebraska Renal Program in care of the family. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: ARNOLD HEIDEN

Arnold Henry Heiden, the son of Christian and Lydia (Opfer) Heiden, was born in Thayer County, Nebraska on January 21, 1925 and passed away in York, Nebraska on May 24, 2012, at the age of 87.

Arnold was baptized in Deshler, confirmed and went to Zion Lutheran School through the 8th grade. He then worked for different farmers until he started farming on his own in 1946.

Arnold was united in marriage to Colene Christiansen on December 15, 1946 at the English Lutheran Church in Hampton.

He served on the Farmers Coop Gas & Oil Board, the Hampton Elevator Board, and the United Lutheran Church Council and the Building Committee for the church parsonage in 1966.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna Ahrens and four brothers, Walter Heiden, Melvin Heiden, Erwin Heiden and Laverne Heiden.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Colene Heiden of Aurora; daughters, Linda (Bob) Dose of Hampton and Lois (Dick) McLain of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Dan (Sue) Heiden of Hampton; 8 granddaughters, Sheila (Jason) Schneider of Aurora, Sherri (Blake) Sanderson of Sioux City, IA, Sarah (Jordan) Howard of Des Moines, IA, Angela (Van) Echols of Lubbock, TX, Brenda (Jeff) Roberts of Lubbock, TX, Jessica (Steve) Phillips, Andrea Heiden and Katie (Dan) Bax all of Lincoln; 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Alice Burke of Omaha and Evelyn Grudzinski of Burlington, CO and sister-in-law, Phyllis Christiansen of Aurora.
