John HenthorneJohn “Jake” Henthorne, age 85, of Loup City formerly of Aurora died Saturday morning, January 15, 2000, at Valley Hospital in Ord. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Father Reggie Urban will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: JOHN HENTHORNE John Jacob Henthorne, the son of Clyde and Louise (Budler) Henthorn was born in Hampton, Nebraska on July 11, 1914 and died in Ord, Nebraska on January 15, 2000, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 1 day. He attended country school in Hampton. He served in the Army for five years during World War II. On December 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Anna Elliott at Vancouver, Washington. They moved to Hamilton County, Nebraska where they farmed, first near Hampton and then north of Aurora. They retired to Sherman Lake near Loup City in 1977. Anna passed away in February 1997. His parents, wife and three sisters, Mariam Graham, Helen Arndt and Loyola Mahr preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, John of Evergreen, Colorado, Chuck of Westminister, Colorado and Bob and his wife JoAnn of Papillion, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Carrie, Jessica, Dorothy and Jordan Henthorne; three brothers, Floyd Henthorn, Jim Henthorn and Bill Henthorn; three sisters, Ruth Marr, Betty Alden and Jeanne Slessor. |
