Wrex Henthorn

Wrex Henthorn, Jr., age 86, of Aurora, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family and special friend, Scott Peace.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 18th at Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Rev. Scott Peace will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hamilton County Boxing Academy. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.


Wrex Henthorn, Jr. the son of Wrex and Alice (Bigger) Henthorn, Sr. was born in Aurora, Nebraska on May 30, 1920 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 13, 2006, at the age of 86.

Wrex was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. He farmed his entire life near Murphy and felt very fortunate to have a job he truly loved.

Wrex married Janice Andersen on December 18, 1943. Janice passed away on February 13, 1982.

Wrex enjoyed his family, his cabin, fishing and boxing. He was very proud that his homestead barn is being used by the Hamilton County Boxing Academy run by Scott Peace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, Eugene Henthorn, who passed away in 1992.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Karen (John) Helms of Aurora and Linda (Bill) Nordskog of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter-in-law, Jane Henthorn of St. Charles, MO; sister, Dorothy Baker of Pueblo, CO; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children and their families; Steve Schroeder of Phillips, Joe Schroeder of Benton City, WA, Kim Hahn of Fremont and Tom Schroeder of Aurora.
