Bonnie Hermansen

Bonnie Hermansen, age 81, of Aurora, died Friday, January 22, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 26th at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Brian Krause will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: BONNIE HERMANSEN

Bonnie Lou (Benson) Hermansen was born on February 3, 1928 in Superior, Nebraska to Jerry and Emma (Andersen) Benson. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed in 1943 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg, Nebraska. At the age of 3, she and her parents moved to a farm south of Kronborg. She attended District 100 country school and graduated from Aurora High School in 1945.

Bonnie worked at J.C. Penney’s in Aurora after graduation. On August 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Rex R. Hermansen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. They farmed east of Marquette until 1984, when they retired and moved to Aurora. Rex passed away on April 6, 2003. Bonnie moved to East Park Villa in 2004.

Bonnie was a member of St. John’s W-ELCA and the church choir. She enjoyed playing the piano, baking cookies, volunteering at nursing homes, and visiting with friends. She was known for her kindness in spirit and her friendly smile. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, their families, extended families, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,and granddaughter, Megan Christenson.

Survivors of the immediate family include one daughter and her husband, Julie and Roger Christenson of Aurora; one son and his wife, Todd and Donna Hermansen of Marquette; two granddaughters, Tamera (Robert) Wert of Aurora and Brooke (Chad) Cose of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Bryce and Riley Wert, Landon and Kendall Cose; brothers-in-law, Leif Hermansen of Aurora, Thomas K. (Charlene) Hermansen of Cassville, MO; sister-in-law, Barbara Handrup of Aurora; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
