Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 7, 1992 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Giltner Cemetery in Giltner, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Ethel Higgins

Ethel Lucy Higgins, the daughter of Rev. Francis and Olive (McKenzie) Aucock, was born at Dakota City, Nebraska, on April 17, 1917, and died at Aurora, Nebraska on October 4, 1992 at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

During her childhood she lived at Dakota City, Wausau, O’Neill, Fairfield, and Rising City, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for 2 years where she earned a teaching certificate.

On February 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Gerald Higgins at Raymond, Nebraska. They lived in Raymond until moving to Giltner in 1950, where she taught school for 14 years. They moved to Aurora in 1984.

Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Giltner, then transferring to Aurora. She was active in church circles, Stephen Ministry, and had directed choirs when in Giltner.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Gerald, 2 sons, Jerry of Olathe, Kansas and Clayton of Giltner; 3 sisters, Olive Anderson of Rockford, Illinois, Frances Nickens of Limon, Colorado, and Marjorie Gustafson of Esmond, Illinois, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and other relatives and friends.
