Ruby Hilligas

Ruby Hilligas, age 93, of Aurora, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Memorial Community Care.

Ruby’s body was anatomically donated and she requested no services. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: RUBY HILLIGAS

Ruby Barbra Hilligas, the daughter of Ed and Lena (Satory) Hilligas, was born north of Hampton on the Hilligas homestead on August 24, 1913 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on June 20, 2007, at the age of 93.

She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Marquette High School in 1932. Ruby moved to Lincoln, where she graduated from beauty school. She worked as a beautician in Lincoln for many years, until she returned to Aurora in the 1970’s. Ruby spent the last years at Colonial Corners, East Park Villa and then Memorial Community Care.

Ruby was a lifetime member of the E.U.B Church in Marquette and then transferred to Aurora United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, crochet, quilt and make craft items.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Lottie.
