William HilligasFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 14, 1984 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Hordville, Nebraska. OBITUARY: William Earl Hilligas William Earl Hilligas, the son of James and Lena (Matthes) Hilligas, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on November 10, 1909, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 10, 1984, at the age of 74 years and 7 months. He grew up near Hampton, where he attended school. He farmed near Hampton for several years. On February 12, 1935, he was united in marriage to Alta Werth at Hampton, Nebraska. After marriage he worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad for several years. He served in the Army during World War II, and after the war he returned to work on the railroad until poor health forced his retirement. He lived in Aurora for several years, and then moved to Inland for 7 years, and recently moved to Grand Island. Earl was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton, and while living in Inland attended the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one infant sister. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two sons, James of Grand Island and Gerald of Inland; brother Ralph Hilligas of Hampton; 3 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. |
