Herman Hines

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 29, 1994 at the Hampton United Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Herman Hines

Herman H. Hines, the son of William and Anna (Klunder) Hines, was born at Amherst, Nebraska, on May 7, 1899, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 26, 1994, at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 19 days.

In 1905, he moved to Hampton, then to New Mexico, and Oklahoma, and in 1921, he returned to Hampton.

On September 22, 1935, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Arndt, at Hampton. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1975.

Herman was in the seed, feed, and produce business for 42 years in Hampton. The Pioneer Profile, Aurora News Register, quoted, “He played an important role in the lives of early Hampton area farmers.”

He was a member of the Hampton United Lutheran Church, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and had received his 60 year pin, belonged to the Eastern Star, and served as treasurer of the Hampton Cemetery Board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Raymond.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his sister Laura Fenster, of York, and nieces and nephews.
