Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 24 1997, at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Velma Hoffman

Velma Gale Hoffman, the daughter of Robert and Cordellia (Newell) Lomax, was born at Prosser, Nebraska, on August 13, 1907, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 21, 1997, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

At age 3, she moved with her family from Prosser to Hastings, where she graduated from Hastings High School in 1926.

On November 28, 1927, she was united in marriage to Floyd Hoffman at Kearney. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1973.

Following his death she resided at Crossroads Court for 16 years, and later entered the Memorial Care Center at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora. While living at the Crossroads Court, she was active in their social group and served as president several times. She was also a member of the Better Homes Club for 48 years.

Velma was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ, and was active in the church circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Robert and Ronald, both of Hutchinson, Kansas; one daughter, Mrs. (Duane) Janice Henk of Central City; 5 grandchildren, and one great grand daughter.
