Viola Pearl Hooker, age 97, of Phillips, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 14th at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Rev. Larry Michael-Rush will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 P.M. OBITUARY: PEARL HOOKER
Viola Pearl Hooker, the daughter of Charles B. and Goldie A. (Arnett) Cogil, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on March 11, 1908 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 11, 2006, at the age of 97.
Pearl lived in the Phillips area her entire life. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1926 and was a graduate of Grand Island College.
On July 6, 1933, she was united in marriage to Orville Edgar Hooker at Central City, Nebraska. Pearl was a part time postal clerk in the Phillips Post Office in addition to being a housewife.
Pearl was a member of the United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, and Phillips Senior Citizens.
Her parents, husband, son Ronald, son-in-law Russell Lenz, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Mason (Maxine) Hooker of Sun City, Arizona; three daughters, Bonnie Lenz of Wind Lake, Wisconsin, Carolyn (Leonard) Onesky of Thornton, Colorado, and Betty (Clifford) Becker of Phillips, Nebraska, a daughter-in-law, Annette Hooker of Big Bend, Wisconsin, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
