Forrest Hosier

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 12, 1998 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Forrest Hosier

Forrest Roland Hosier, the son of Forrest W. and Olive (Roland) Hosier, was born at Fairbury, Nebraska, on October 16, 1920, and died at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on November 9, 1998, at the age of 78 years, and 23 days.

He grew up and received his education at Fairbury, where he graduated from High School. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, from September 4, 1942, until his discharge on September 5, 1943.

On November 10, 1944, he was united in marriage to Shirley Anne Jones at Norton, Kansas. Forrest worked for newspapers in Fairbury, Holdrege, Minden, Broken Bow, and was editor of the Aurora New Register in Aurora, from 1967 until his retirement in 1986.

Forrest was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was past district governor of the Lions Club, belonged to the American Legion, and was the drummer for the Hamilton County Concert Band.

Music was a big part of his life, and he played in the Kearney State Collegians, later the name was changed to the Forrest Roland Band, which played all over Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Terry Dell Hosier, at age 15, in 1967.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley of Aurora; one son Kent and his wife Paula of Garland, Texas; one daughter Lori Anne Hosier of Aurora; one brother Max of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and one grandson Forrest William Hosier.
