Victor Hunt

Victor Hunt, age 81, of Phillips, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Veteran's Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: VICTOR HUNT

Victor Hunt, the son of Frank Edward and Nellie Mae (Cornelius) Hunt, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on July 6, 1920 and died in Omaha, Nebraska on July 7, 2001, at the age of 81 years.

Victor grew up on the family farm near Phillips. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1939. Victor served in the Marine Corps during WWII, from 1942-45, on the New Hebrides and on Bougainville. When he returned he farmed until 1962, then he worked various jobs for the Bureau of Reclamation, Hoppe Lumber in Grand Island and then he worked for Bonnavilla Mobil Homes in Aurora until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of Phillips United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, both the Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite. Victor was Deputy Grand Custodian of Masons in Nebraska and Past Master of Keystone Lodge #62 in Phillips. He was also active in the Order of Eastern Star.

Victor enjoyed going fishing and especially the company of others.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bernice Catherine Reinecke and a nephew, William C. Reinecke.

Victor is survived by his three nephews, Thomas F. Reinecke of Duncan, Oklahoma, Micheal V. Reinecke of El Paso, Texas and David H. Reinecke of Phillips; two nieces, Mrs. Helen K. Adams of Little Rock, California and Mrs. Marian Heckman of Oxnard, California and several grand nieces and nephews.
