Dorothea 'Dodie' Hyde

Dorothea “Dodie” Hyde, age 82, of Aurora, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 11th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Inurnment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. No Visitation. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DOROTHEA ‘DODIE’ HYDE

Dorothea Alice Hyde, the daughter of Henry and Alice (Brown) Hyde, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on February 3, 1928 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 3, 2010, at the age of 82.

Dodie graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1946. She graduated from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Dodie was devoted to her nursing career for 40 years, working at the VA Hospital in Grand Island, Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln and for a group of Orthopedic surgeons in Lincoln.

Dodie’s generosity and compassion for others will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Especially all those family and friends, who were recipients of her homemade gifts and special books.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harvey and Dennis Hyde, sister-in-law, JoAnn and great-niece, Cassidy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers & sisters, Joan (LeRoy) Gilsdorf of Merced, California, Gerald (Dawn) Hyde of Parker, Colorado, Roland Hyde of Grand Island, Garrison Dale Hyde of Aurora and Karen (Larry) Fagan of Hampton; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hyde. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and coworkers.
