Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 17, 1997 at the Aurora First Christian Church. Interment was held in the Giltner Cemetery in Giltner, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Verna (Omel) Hylton

Verna (Omel) Hylton, the daughter of Armand and Alta (Lanterman) Omel, was born November 24, 1921, near Giltner, Nebraska, and died on March 10, 1997, at Santa Paula, California, at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

She grew up near Giltner, and graduated from Giltner High School with the class of 1940. She was employed at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, and had worked as a nurse’s aid at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

On July 13, 1969, she was married to Paul Hylton at Grand Island, Nebraska. They made their home in Santa Paula, California.

Verna was a long time and faithful member of the Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Leal, and 3 sisters, Liva Omel, Evelyn Hylton, and Donna Hurley.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul of Santa Paula; one son Randy Bremer of Omaha; one daughter Sheryl Baker of Omaha; 2 step-sons Richard and Robert Hylton, both of Santa Paula, California; 5 brothers Fostin “Toot” Omel, of Giltner, Myron Omel of Aurora, Warren “Bud” Omel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jerry Omel, Aurora, and Marion Omel of Grand Island; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
