Donald IngramDonald Ingram, 83, of Omaha, formerly of Aurora, died Thursday, morning, February 11th, in an Omaha Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday morning, February 15th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, Nebraska. Father John Keefe will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary. OBITUARY: DONALD INGRAM Donald Vernon Ingram, the son of Vernon and Effie (Johnson) Ingram, was born at Axtell, Nebraska, on July 18, 1915, and died at Omaha, Nebraska, on February 11, 1999, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 23 days. He grew up on a farm near Axtell and graduated from Axtell High School. Following graduating he worked on the family farm north of Kearney. In 1938, the family moved to Aurora and he owned and operated the Sinclair Service Station and Café with his father. On October 12, 1940, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruby Strotman at Aurora. After graduating from Lincoln Aeronautical Institute, they moved to Los Angeles, California, where he was employed at Lockheed building P-38 airplanes for World War Two. In 1945, he returned to Aurora, where he worked on the family farm and began working for Phillips Petroleum Fertilizer Sales until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha, belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. Don was a renowned homemade ice cream maker, serving at family occasions. He was a devoted Cornhusker fan, attended the games and tailgated in his motor home. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and had toured all 48 states. He was a skilled boat driver for a family of water skiers, and was an avid pitch player. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Ruby, two sons, Ronald and his wife Sharon and Russell and his wife Susan, all of Omaha; 5 grandchildren, Sandra Ham and her husband Rick, Todd Ingram and his wife Teresa, Jill Hudon and her husband Art, Tim Ingram and his wife Chris and Joel Ingram and his wife Jenna; 4 great grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Ham and Thomas and Katie Ingram. |
