Arthur Jacobsen

Arthur Jacobsen, age 88, of Aurora, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 7th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Brian Krause will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Aurora Child Care, Inc.

OBITUARY: ARTHUR JACOBSEN

Arthur Andersen Jacobsen, the son of Christian T. and Alma C. (Andersen) Jacobsen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on December 24, 1923 and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska on January 1, 2012 at the age of 88.

Art grew up on a farm near Kronborg. He attended school at District 21 and graduated from Marquette High School in 1941. Following his graduation he worked in Kearney for a short time before his marriage.

Art was united in marriage to Doris Ortegren on December 21, 1942 at Kearney, Nebraska. Following their marriage he farmed near Kronborg until his retirement in 1988. Doris passed away on July 8, 1986.

Art was united in marriage to Helen Jameson on November 5, 1988.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg where he was on the church council, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Art also served on the Board of Directors of Bank of Marquette and United Coop. Art loved bowling, ballroom dancing, car shopping and folk dancing.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris, parents, brother, Elmer Jacobsen, brother-in-laws, Robert Ortegren, Jim Spencer and Les Reiter, granddaughter, Shelly Jacobsen and grandson, Matt Henricksen..

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen of Aurora; sons, Steve (Sherry) Jacobsen of Marquette and Mike (Cindy) Jacobsen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Karma (Don) Bensen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; stepdaughter Judy (Don) Henricksen of Kearney and stepson Jim Jameson of Beatrice. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken (Martha) Ortegren and sister-in-laws Betty Ortegren, Joy Jacobsen, Phyllis Spencer and Shirley Reiter.
