Dwain Jacobs
Dwain Jacobs, age 86, of Aurora, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Memorial Hospital. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 6th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Pastor Sam Fox will officiate. A private family burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: DWAIN JACOBS Dwain Jacobs, the son of Orlando Cecil and Gladys Victoria (Brandt) Jacobs, was born at the home place near Murphy, Nebraska on October 18, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 2, 2010, at the age of 86. He grew up on the family farm west of Aurora, near Murphy. Dwain attended Country School and graduated from Aurora High School. On May 26, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary May. Dwain farmed west of Murphy and worked part-time during the winters at the G.I. Ordinance Plant. He retired from farming in 1999 and then they moved into Aurora. Dwain was a resident of the Hamilton Manor since July of 2009. Dwain attended both the First Christian Church and Monroe Evangelical Free Church. He was on the Farm Credit Board. Dwain enjoyed flying and loved playing the trumpet; he was a member of the Hamilton County Band until 2005. Dwain loved the Lord, his family, his church and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eula Hagemeister. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Jacobs of Aurora; son, Jerry Jacobs of Phillips; daughter, Joy Jacobs of Lincoln; brother, C. Walter (Veda) Jacobs of Phillips and several nieces and nephews. |
