Antoni Jasnowski

Antoni (Tony) Jasnowski, age 84, of Aurora died Friday, September 5, 2003, at Haven Home of Kenesaw in Kenesaw, Nebraska.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 8th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Craig Doty will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora with the Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. OBITUARY: ANTONI (TONY) JASNOWSKI

Antoni Jasnowski was born in Selsdorf, Germany on September 13, 1918 to Franciszek and Wladyslawa (Murawska) Jasnowski.

He was united in marriage to Jadwiga "Hedy" Kardziejonek in 1946, while at a U.S.-organized Displaced Person Camp in Wildflecken, (West) Germany.

In 1949, Tony and his wife and two small children emigrated to Aurora, Nebraska, where he resided until his death. He worked for several road construction companies operating in Central Nebraska and retired as plant foreman for Knight Brothers' Construction of Chapman, Nebraska. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Life Member in the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

In his retirement, he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and he enjoyed gardening, playing chess, and fishing. He took great pride in his two hand-built pontoon fishing boats. In his later years, he took time to gather recollections of his World War II experiences in an autobiography, Thirst for Justice.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hedy, infant sons Peter and Paul, and his parent and siblings.

Surviving family members are his children: Teresa (Stan) Butkus of Columbia, South Carolina; Kazie (Feli) of Englewood, Ohio; John (Mardell) of Aurora; Mary, of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Tony (Jan), of Omaha,13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
