Geraldine Jensen

Geraldine Jensen, age 82, of Aurora died Friday afternoon, June 11, 2004 at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 14th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Pastor Sam Fox will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: GERALDINE JENSEN

Geraldine Louise Jensen, the daughter of Charles and Faye (Dance) Johnson, was born on the family farm north of Aurora, Nebraska on May 5, 1922 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on June 11, 2004, at the age of 82.

Geraldine was educated in country school district #56 north of Aurora and graduated with the Class of 1940.

Geraldine was united in marriage to Robert W. Jensen, Sr. on March 1, 1942 in Iowa. They lived in California for a year following his discharge from the Army. They then moved to a farm north of Aurora, where they farmed and raised their family. Robert passed away in 1983 and Geraldine continued to live on the family farm until 1999 when she entered Memorial Community Care in Aurora due to health concerns from cancer treatments.

Geri was known for her love of quilting and for her seamstress abilities. She was a member of several quilting guilds, including Nimble Thimble quilting guild, a volunteer and board member of the Plainsman Museum, and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Geraldine was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Daniel Jensen, and sister, Nadine Gerberick.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four daughters and sons-in-law, Louise (Joe) Sigona of Aurora, Pamela (Roger) Epp of Aurora, Sharin (Bruce) Mahnke of Woodbury, Minnesota and Beverly (Robert) Monson of Katy, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert, Jr. (Frances) Jensen of rural Marquette, Thomas (Georgia) Jensen of Hartford, Alabama and Rodney Jensen and special friend Kathy Henderson of Castle Rock, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elna (Robert) Hagen of Dallas, Texas, a brother, Leonard (Margaret) Johnson of Marquette and other relatives and friends.
