Robert Jensen

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 30, 1993 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Robert Jensen

Robert Deryl Jensen, the son of Andrew and Laura (Rath) Jensen, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on May 17, 1922 and died at Grand Island, Nebraska on March 28, 1993, following a short bout with cancer, at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 11 days.

He grew up in the Stockham area, where he attended grade school, and graduated from Phillips High School with the class of 1940. He then served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, at Bridgeport, Nebraska, and on May 29, 1941 he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served in the South Pacific as a Pharmacist Mate, until his discharge on January 11, 1946.

On October 22, 1944, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Killion at her parents home in Phillips, Nebraska.

He was employed as a parts man and store accountant for International Harvester at Grand Island, Denver and Sidney, for 22 years, and then began working at Chief Industries in Grand Island as an accountant and later as credit manager of the automotive division, for 10 years. He was last employed as an interviewer for the Nebraska Job Service for 5 years before retiring because of health problems in 1981. In June of 1983, they moved to Lincoln, and in February of 1989, they moved to their present home in Aurora.

Bob was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, belonged to the Phillips Keystone Masonic Lodge #62, A.F. & A.M., where he served as Past Master. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant Brother Virgil, and a brother Gene.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Jean, of Aurora, 3 sons, Steven and his wife Kathy of La Habra, California, Michael and his wife Terri of Grand Island, and Bradley and his wife Elizabeth of St. Peters, Missouri; 2 daughters, Pamela Cade and her husband Dan of Lincoln, and Jacalyn Fredrick and her husband Douglas of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, and 3 step grandchildren.
