Shirley Jensen

Shirley Jensen, age 75, of Phillips, died Monday, November 16, 2009 at her home.

OBITUARY: SHIRLEY JENSEN

Shirley Janet Jensen, the daughter of Paul and Mildred (Norris) Thomasson, was born in Ferndale, Maryland on January 28, 1934 and died in Phillips, Nebraska on November 16, 2009, at the age of 75.

She grew up in Baltimore. When she was 13, her family moved to Ferndale, Maryland. Shirley attended Ferndale Elementary School and Glen Bernie High School through the 8th grade. Shirley worked at the Maryland Department of Health until 1953.

Shirley married Darwin Lavern Jensen on September 19, 1953. They had met in Ferndale, while Darwin was in the Service. They moved to Greenville after Darwin was discharged from the service. After moving back to Ferndale in 1959, Shirley worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore from 1959-1967. Shirley moved to Rochester, Michigan in 1967 and went to work for General Motors in Michigan in 1968, retiring in 1991.

Shirley enjoyed traveling, crocheting and being with family and friends. She made baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The last blanket was for her son, Ray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Charles Darwin and Randy Lee Jensen and brother-in-law, Dean Jensen.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Gary L. Jensen and June Kiser of Phillips; Raymond B. and wife, Brenda of Greenville, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Carol) Thomasson of Lady Lake, Florida and Robert (Deb) Thomasson of Hud Lock, Maryland; sister, Laraine Gattuso of Baltimore and sisters-in-law, cousins and many relatives and friends.
