OBITUARY: Dorothy Jess

Dorothy Louise Jess, the daughter of George and Ada (Shelton) Gimpel, was born at Giltner, Nebraska, on February 4, 1925, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 21, 1998, at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 17 days.

She grew up at Giltner and graduated from Aurora High School. After graduation, she worked in Grand Island.

On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lyle Jess at Hastings. Following their marriage they farmed near Farwell, and in 1962, they moved to Ravenna, where they farmed. In 1984, they moved to Aurora.

Dorothy was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Lyle of Aurora; two daughters, Kathy Volkmer of Brock and Connie Ficken of Davenport; one brother Wayne Gimpel of Wheatland, Wyoming; two sisters Darletta Broadway of Grand Island, and Mary Campbell of Aurora, and 4 grandchildren.
