Lyle Jess

Lyle Jess, age 76 of Aurora, died Thursday evening at Beverly Health Care at Lakeview in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 24, 2000 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora with Rev. Karl Larson officiating. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4-7 PM Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

OBITUARY: Lyle Jess

Lyle George Jess, the son of Otto and Della (Carstons) Jess, was born at Farwell, Nebraska on May 24, 1923, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska on January 20, 2000 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 26 days.

He grew up at Farwell, where he attended school. He then farmed near Farwell with his dad and brothers for several years.

On June 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Gimpel at Hastings.. Following their marriage they farmed near Farwell, and in 1962, they moved to Ravenna, where they farmed. In 1984, he retired and moved to Aurora, where he worked for the parks department and the Leadership Center.

He was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Dorothy.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Kathy Volkmer and her husband Mark of Brock, and Connie Ficken and her husband Martin of Edgar; 2 brothers Udell of Grand Island and Gerald of Farwell; 4 sisters Birdean Wodke of Bossier City, Louisana, DeLois Holewinski of Omaha, and Valara Campbell and Phyllis Rauert both of North Platte, and 4 grandchildren.
