Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 31, 1984 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. Interment was held in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Sofie Marie Johansen

Sofie Marie Johansen, the daughter of Thyge and Marie (Jacobsen) Hansen, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on April 14, 1889, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 28, 1984, at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 14 days.

She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg, where she remained a lifetime member. She attended country school in the Kronborg vicinity. As a young woman, she worked doing housekeeping.

On November 15, 1911, she was united in marriage to Fredrick Johansen. They made their home on the farm in the Kronborg vicinity. To this union two sons were born, Harold and Arvid. They also adopted a daughter, Rhoda.

Mr. Johansen passed away in 1941.

She continued to live in the Kronborg and Marquette vicinity until August 1974 when she moved to the Hamilton Manor.

Survivors include Arvid and his wife Ethel; three grandsons, Cliff, Wayne and his wife Mary and Les and his wife Barb; one granddaughter, Carol and her husband Jim Harrenstein of Hastings; and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, adopted daughter, her parents, four sisters and one brother.
