OBITUARY: Bonnie Johnson

Hazel “Bonnie” Jones Johnson, the daughter of E.E. and JeNettie (Boroff) Eastman, was born in Hall County, Nebraska, on August 21, 1915, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 4, 1998, at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

She grew up and graduated from Giltner High School, following graduation, she worked for Sandin’s and the Hamilton County Telephone Company.

On June 7, 1936, she was united in marriage to Howard Jones at Aurora. They lived in Aurora until 1939, when they moved to California. They returned to Aurora in 1945, and operated Jones Plumbing and Heating. Howard preceded her in death on October 3, 1962.

She began working at the Farmer’s State Bank, where she was employed until her retirement.

On April 5, 1970, she married Fred Johnson at Aurora, and they operated the Laundromat.

“Bonnie” was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, belonged to the Hamilton County V.F.W Post #4993 Auxiliary, the Grand Island Eagles, and Elks DOEs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, one son Rodney, two brothers, and three sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Fred, one daughter Jan Jones, a daughter-in-law Joyce Jones all of Aurora; a sister Pauline Hartman of Boise, Idaho, 3 grandchildren, Vonn Jones of Omaha, Geri and Blaine Braziel of Lincoln, and Kate and Dallas Troester of Hampton, and one great grand daughter Shelby Troester.
