Lester Johnson
Lester Johnson, age 97, of Aurora, died Tuesday afternoon, May 25, 2004, at East Park Villa in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 28th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Brian Kottas will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: LESTER JOHNSON Lester Alton Thomas Johnson, the son of Thomas Henry and Anna (Rodewald) Johnson, was born in North Bend, Nebraska on May 16, 1907 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 25, 2004, at the age of 97. He grew up in North Bend and attended North Bend High School through the 10th grade. On June 12, 1931, he was united in marriage to Susie Alice Bignell near Morse Bluff. They farmed in Dodge County before he went to work for a meat packing plant in Omaha. Lester then worked for Safeway Stores as a meat cutter for 30 years. Susie passed away on December 10, 1998. Lester was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the Lion's Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Clarence, three sisters, Pauline, Oleitha and Elizabeth and two great-granddaughters, Amber and Sean. Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Donald (Barbara) of Littleton, Colorado and James (Naomi) of Ralston; four daughters, Polley (Ed) Olivera of San Carlos, California, Lillian (Louis) Oswald of Aurora, Susan (Ronald) Sipe of San Antonio, Texas and Christina (Jack) Robertshaw of Aurora; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Walter Johnson of Fremont and a sister, Gertrude Lectenberger of Fremont. |
