Kermit Jones

Kermit Jones, age 84, of Marquette, died Monday evening, February 24, 2003, at the Central City Care Center.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 1st at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Pam Ciulla will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: KERMIT JONES

Kermit Emil Jones, the son of Oscar Emil and Selma (Anderson) Jones, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on September 3, 1918 and died in Central City, Nebraska on February 24, 2003, at the age of 84.

He was raised in Hamilton County and went to Bell School District #21 through the 8th grade. Kermit worked for various farmers in Hamilton County, then on several farms in Iowa and Illinois. He attended Mamre Evangelical Free Church and was confirmed in 1933. Kermit served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Kermit was united in marriage to Irene Peterson on March 2, 1944 at Norfolk, Virginia. When Kermit returned from the service they moved to the home place, where he was a dairy farmer. Kermit went to Grade 'A' Dairy in 1969.

Kermit was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg, where he became a member through baptism in 1990. He belonged to the Marquette & Kronborg Senior Citizens and Central City Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-mother, and brother, LaMont.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Irene Jones of Central City; four sons, Leroy Allan Jones and his wife Linda of Marquette, Keith Emil Jones and his wife Glenda of Lincoln, Wayne Ray Jones of Central City and Marvin Dean Jones of Lincoln; 7 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 1 great-granddaughter and 3 step great-grandchildren.
