LaMont JonesFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 17, 1989 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Mamre Cemetery near Marquette, Nebraska. OBITUARY: LaMont Jones LaMont O. Jones, the son of Emil and Selma (Anderson) Jones, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on March 10, 1920, and passed away at his farm north of Aurora, Nebraska, on March 14, 1989, at the age of 69 years and 4 days. He grew up in the Hordville area and graduated from Hordville High School in 1938. On May 26, 1942, he was united in marriage to Hannah Bjorkman, at Burton, Kansas. He served his country during World War II, in the United States Army from May 20, 1942, to December 17, 1945, serving with the 763rd Tank Battalion. Farming was his life occupation after returning from serving his country. LaMont was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and participated in the church choir. He was also a 4-H Club leader, and was a member of the American Legion, and served on the Hamilton County Fair Board. He also belonged to the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, the Aurora Saddle Club and the Nebraska Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Hannah; 2 sons, Jim of Sutton and Jack of Westminster, Maryland; one daughter Roxie (Mrs. Larry Anderson) of Grand Island; one brother, Kermit Jones of Marquette; 6 grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends. |
