Lawrence JonesFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 12, 1994 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Lawrence Jones Lawrence W. Jones, the son of Louis P. and Josephine (Benson) Jones, was born at Hordville, Nebraska, on February 8, 1912, and died at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on October 10, 1994, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 2 days. He grew up and attended school at Hordville, farmed in the Hordville area, and worked at the Fairmont Dairy in Grand Island. On May 14, 1938, he was united in marriage to Geraldine E. Rice at the First Baptist Church in Grand Island. She preceded him in death on February 15, 1994. He served his country during World War 2, in the U.S. Army, and served in the South Pacific. After the war he worked as a car salesman for Roush Motors in Grand Island. In 1951, he purchased the Chrysler Dealership in Aurora, which he owned and operated until he retired in 1979. Lawrence was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was a past member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #68, A.F. & A.M., was past patron of the Aurora Chapter #93, Order of Eastern Star, was past commander of the Aurora American Legion, Lester S. Harter Post #42, and was a member of the Forty and Eight Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, 5 brothers, Charles, Clarence, Reuben, Harold, and Hilmer; one sister Norma Gustafson. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son Larry W. Jones and his wife Debby of Aurora; one daughter Sally Roblee and her husband Wayne of Aurora; 3 sisters, Ruth Lindburg of Aurora, Myrtle Hassel of Denver, Colorado, and Evangeline Ericksen of Hampton; 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. |
