Rod JonesFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 21, 1995 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Rod Jones Rodney Howard Jones, the son of Howard and Hazel “Bonnie” (Eastman) Jones, was born December 4, 1938, at Aurora, Nebraska, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on February 19, 1995 at the age of 56 years, 2 months, and 15 days. He grew up in Aurora, and graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1956. He attended Kearney State College. On May 22, 1960, he was united in marriage to Joyce “Jo” Jensen at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg, Nebraska. Except for his service with the United States Army in 1961 and 1962, he was a lifetime resident of Aurora. He grew up learning the plumbing and heating trade from his grandfather and father, taking over the family business in 1962, upon the death of his father. He operated Jones Plumbing and Heating until 1983, when he joined Stan Allen Motors as a salesman. Rod was best known in his community for his sense of humor, and his devoting to collecting and restoring vintage automobiles. He was preceded in death by his father. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife “Jo” of Aurora; one son Vonn of Omaha, one daughter Geri of Lincoln; a sister Janice Jones of Aurora; his mother “Bonnie” Johnson and his step-father Fred Johnson of Aurora; a niece Kate Troester and her husband Dallas, their daughter Shelby, and countless friends. |
