Peter JorgensenFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 1979 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Interment was held in Kronborg’s Church Cemetery. OBITUARY: Peter Jorgensen Peter Jorgensen, the son of Jorgen and Kristine Rasmussen Jorgensen, was born at Lolland, Denmark on September 27, 1896. His death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska, following an illness of two weeks, on January 8, 1979 at the age of 82 years 5 months and 11 days. As a young man, he served two years in the Cavalry of the Danish Army. In 1924 he came to the United States, coming to Oakland, Nebraska to make his home with an uncle. He attended the Folk School at Nysted School at Dannebrog, Nebraska. In 1925 he came to Hamilton County, where he worked as a farm hand for a short time, before starting to farm on his own. At an early age he was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in his native land. After coming to Hamilton County, he became a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg, where he has been active in church attendance and affairs. On December 24, 1928 he was united in marriage to Emma Lagoni in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Five sons and one daughter were born to them. They farmed Northeast of Aurora until the spring of 1964, when they retired and moved to their present home in Aurora. Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on Sunday, December 24, 1978. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Karen Thorsen had preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Emma; one daughter Mrs. Ann Mann of Klamath Falls, Oregon; five sons, Holger of San Diego, California; Otto and Robert both of Aurora; George of Houston, Texas and John of Marshalltown, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and other relatives and many close friends. |
